Skeppsmalen
Skeppsmalen or "Skeppsmaln" as the locals usually say, is a fishing village most known for the fermented herring, because both the fermented herring museum as well as the saltery are placed here.

At the very end of the foreland is "Skagsudde", which is the northest part of the High Coast World Heritage Site. Skagsudde has its own weather station, where the land elevation is measured. The lighthouse on Skagsudde was built in 1957 and is still used today.
People have been living in Skeppsmalen since the 18th century, when the fishermen from Gävle came to the area to fish the fermented herring. Then the place was put on the map. A small village was built, and in the beginning of the 19th century was the ground for the chapel made, which you still can visit today.
You can visit the worlds first fermented herring museum in Skeppsmalen. It is a small museum but could be interesting for those who are interested in the history of the food and fishing.
They also have a restaurant called Fiskevistet, which is one of a few restaurants that have the delicacy fermented herring on the menu.
In this area there is an easy hiking trail called Lotstigen. This trail was once a walking trail for the pilots. It goes between Stubbsand, Skagshamn and Skeppsmalen on Skagsudde. Along the trail you have a lot of interesting places to explore. There are nice look out views from Alkaberget and Vårdkasberget. Along the coastlines there are small beaches and resting areas like Reveludden and Tennviken.
