skuleberget

Skuleberget is perhaps the High Coast's most iconic landmark and here you will find the world's highest coastline, 286 meters above sea level.

If you stay at one of the campsites or accommodation facilities around Docksta and Ullånger, there is plenty to see and experience. Here are some tips and suggestions to start with!

FriluftsByn is located at the southern foot of Skuleberget. Based at the campsite or cottage village, it offers plenty of activities for the whole family, such as hikes around Skuleberget and along the High Coast Trail to the top of the mountain where you can eat at the restaurant Toppstugan. You can also rent canoes at FriluftsByn or take a dip in Lake Gällsta. At Restaurant Vardagsrummet, you can enjoy coffee, lunch and dinner in a nice environment and a nice view. Various events are organized here all year round.

At the foot of the mighty Skuleberget is naturum Höga Kusten. Here you will find exciting exhibitions about land uplift and the fantastic geology of the High Coast. There is also a play area for children and a restaurant. Just a stone's throw away is Naturscen Skuleberget, an outdoor stage where many famous artists perform every year. Right next to naturum Höga Kusten you will find Docksta shoe factory where handmade Swedish shoes have been made for almost 100 years. Visit the shop and buy your own loafers.

If you feel like hiking, there are plenty of places to discover around Skuleberget and Docksta. From the top of Skuleberget you are offered a magnificent view of the World Heritage Site. For the adventurous, we recommend climbing in Europe's largest Via Ferrata facility. Or take the cable car up to the summit cabin where you can enjoy good food combined with fantastic views of the World Heritage Site. A bit from Skuleberget you will find Getsvedjeberget. From Veåsand and Skulebergets Havscamping sea campsite there is a marked trail up to the top and the overhang called "Predikstolen". Here you have a fantastic view of Norrfjärden and can sit and dangle your legs over the edge. After this mighty excursion, a dip in the sea is perfect, swim at Veåsands havsbad in Norrfjärden or rent a kayak at Höga Kusten Kajakcenter and go on a nice paddling trip.

If you want to discover the archipelago, you can take the Höga Kusten Båtarna out to Ulvön or take an evening trip with Asta to Mjältön

Skuleskogen National Park is located a short distance from Skuleberget. There are also opportunities for both day hikes and longer walks.

If the sugar craving strikes, visit Jeltsje's Chocolate Pralines in Docksta or take home a box filled with temptations. All of the products are made from the highest quality chocolate and many of them originate from Skuleskogen's pantry. All the ingredients also meet fair trade standards and are organic!

Not far from Docksta is Ullånger. Here you can take the bike along the beautiful bike path. Take a trip to Sweden's oldest thin bread bakery, Mjälloms Tunnbröd in Ullånger. In their visitor center, you can learn more about their 100-year history and traditional craftsmanship. Here you will also find Mjälloms Tunnbröd - 1923 Tunnbröd & Deli. A fantastic delicatessen which, in addition to all kinds of flatbread at factory prices, also has a large assortment of cheeses and charcuterie as well as lots of other delicacies from both near and far.
