Sailing the High Coast archipelago

The High Coast Archipelago is dramatic, but it is easily accessed which makes it perfect for a sailing holiday. The nature is varied and this stretch is the highest and steepest along the entire Swedish east coast. The High Coast was named a World Heritage Site by UNESCO at the turn of the millennium due to its record land uplift since the inland ice retreated. The unique beauty of the area is just made to be explored by boat – prepare to have your breath taken away. There is also a wide range of places to visit offering varying activities and countless special moments.

Scenic Route

Sailing in the High Coast, where the sea meets the mountains, is simply magic. The area offers fantastic sailing within the archipelago and is part of the High Coast World Heritage Site, where evidence of the dramatic land uplift is clearly seen from all angles, not least from the sea. The region stretches between the harbour cities of Härnösand to the south and Örnsköldsvik to the north. Between the two, which are worthy destinations in their own right, are countless beautiful places to discover. Why not park up in a fully serviced guest marina or cast your anchor off the coast of Sweden’s highest island or Skuleskogen National Park and take a smaller boat or paddle to land. Don’t miss the islands Ulvön, the jewel of the Baltic, or Trysunda, which has been voted Sweden’s most beautiful island.
