Where the city and nature meet
Örnsköldsvik is the largest town in the province of Ångermanland. Its most dramatic growth period was during the timber era in the 1800s, when harbour towns grew increasingly important. A strong air of entrepreneurship and focus on development can still be felt in the town. Nature experiences are close at hand and the town with its hotels, hostels and shops is a popular point of departure for hiking along the High Coast Trail. The mountains Åsberget and Varvsberget are close to town and offer both challenging hiking and beautiful views of the city.
